Artists Profile

Chrissie Hammond MA

I have been painting since I could hold a paint brush and finally became a professional artist in 2005 after making some life style changes to suit my new found illness, Multiple Sclerosis. Art has always been a huge part of my life, remaining a constant companion to me, an unwavering passion, permanent challenge & self perpetuating critic.

Initially painting in narrative form I have moved on to more figurative abstract portrayals in bold and vibrant colours resulting in a series of painting of SNAFU a character caught in humorous situations.

I do like to search for the unusual element when painting as I feel this captures a strong part of my personality. I tend to err towards doing things my way and look for the obscure and cheeky quirks life has to offer. I hope you ‘feel’ this in my works and enjoy them as much as I enjoy creating them...

More recently I have lost the sight in one eye and the sight in the other is compromised due to my Multiple Sclerosis. I have written, using -speak to computer software-a short story ‘Halitosis Harry’ to help others come to terms with their challenges with MS.
